Zomig
For more information check out: Zomig today!
Q: what is in zomig my wife took this med and know she dont know what is in zomig?
A: Zomig is a medication used to stop migraines. It is not considered safe for pregnancy. It causes the blood vessels to constrict (they usually dilate during a migraine, causing the severe pain).
Q: can you mix robitussin with zomig?
is it ok to mix those two?
A: First of all, there is many different types of Robitussin. The concominant administration of Zomig and dextrometorphan ingredient in Robitussin (you can see ingredients on the side label) can cause serotonin syndrome in some patients (increased heart rate, sweating, fever, shivering). My advise is to take Zomig now and wait a day or two before you take Robitussin (it is not that good anyway, it would be more beneficial to drink hot liquids and gargle saulty water for productive caugh).
Q: People taking or who have taken ZOMIG?
Do you find that it makes swallowing a little difficult? I mean…not enough to cause serious problems, but kind of like when you have Mono and your glands are swollen, the swallowing is a little hard but you can still do it? Or is it just me?
I agree with both of you. I’d rather have the side effects of the meds, although they’re not too bad. And it makes me really drousy as well, but hey…I catch up on my sleep so I end up feeling so refreshed the next day.
A: Zomig and all the triptans give a funny side effect of making all your muscles clench up a little, including your jaw and neck and shoulders…. don’t worry, though, because the more you use it, the more your body overcomes this side effect…. also, usually the migraine itself is a lot worse than the medication side effect, isn’t it?
hang in there
Q: What do you take for migraine headaches?
I can no longer take Imitrex. I’ve tried Zomig and Frova and some I can’t even remember. None of these really do the trick. Can you suggest something that might work better?
A: sex is the best analgesic ,
Q: Is it hard to get a doctor to prescribe topamax?
I have tried midrin, imitrex, vicoden, zomig, maxalt, beta blockers, lexapro(antidepressant) and herbal therapy, for my migraines. Triptans work about 80% of the time, vicoden takes teh pain away for about 3 hours and the rest I get about a 20% success rate with. I have heard topamax usually works but with harsh side effects. I want to try it out because I can’t take this migrain pain away. I want to see how bad I get the side effects so I can make my own decision. Is it hard to get a doctor to prescribe it? It is also marketed as a migraine med. I have done the research and know what to expect. I am getting excited thinking of releife and the possible weightloss. I hope I can deal with the memory & tinglies….. This would be a life changing event I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss this.
A: I would think you could get a progressive doctor to give this medicine a trial run. Also consider neurontin.
Q: What medicines are similar to Midrin for migraines?
I tried Imitrex and Zomig and both are so expensive and made me feel funny. Any suggestions?
A: Pl try cold water bath and observe.
If you have cough/cold body hot water bath will help.
Pl try simple acupressure given below for immediate relief.
If it fails you will have to go for Acupuncture.
There is hardly any medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache, Ear ache, and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes.
None of them can be treated with medicine.
Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Pain killers don’t treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.
Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.
Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves’ juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.
If it is acute pl search a painful point (with round tipped pen/jimmy) 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.
For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.
It may disappear naturally too.

Q: Zomig for migraines?
I have terrible migraines was told to try Zomig, anyone have any experiences with that medicine?
thanks
A: I have taken it with some success. You need to take it as soon as you feel the migraine coming on and then lie down for a while. If you wait too long to take it it doesn’t help that much. So, make sure you know what symptoms you get before your migraines start. For me it is sudden, bad fatigue.
Q: anyone use zomig for migraines?
i’m using it tonight, i have the worst migraine
i get them from time to time. what is the best remedy?
A: Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck.
Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at
Q: Zomig & Pre-Migraine Auras?
Does anyone have any experience with pre-migraine auras? Do you know if taking Zomig once the aura is noticed is a good idea? If so, would it prevent the migraine altogether?
(Yes, I know, I should be talking to a doctor about this, but wanted some average migraine-sufferers advice first.)
A: Yes, medical advice is most reliable via medical personnel, no doubt. However, I can answer your question based upon actual experience~ I use Zomig (via perscription) & I can attest to the fact that taking Zomig upon first indication of the onset of migraine headaches is exactly ‘why’ the medication is perscribed for you. Taking the Zomig when you are keenly aware of a possible migraine is a smart choice without a doubt. In fact, I learned the hard way, by thinking ‘maybe’ I could do without the Zomig even though I was well aware of an oncoming migraine….this my doctors informed me is NOT the reason Zomig was perscribed for me, the Zomig was intended to be used at the first indication of migraine possiblity. Those who really experience Migraines always know when a migraine headache is imminent versus the onset of a headche of lesser degree… I empathize with you knowing you suffer from migraines as I have for many years. Take the Zomig…treat your signs & symptoms and you may alleviate the suffering of a migraine. Take care~ Oh & by the way…JFYI, I have also learned that taking ‘FEVERFEW’ on a regular basis can help eliminate the onset of repetitive headaches…FEVERFEW is now part of my daily regime. You may want to check into this fact, it could be beneficial for you as well. Visit www.webmd.com & learn more about migrained & treatment of them. Always consult your physician if ever in doubt or of concern~ Take care~
Q: SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER—Zomig+ Reductil……I’M ILL!!!!!?
Is it safe to take zomig whilst taking reductil…….I’ve got a stonking migrane and can’t shake it off…help!!!
A: Unfortunately Zomig (zolmitriptan) and Reductil (sibutramine) have a major interaction. Zolmitriptan is a selective 5-hydroxytryptamine 1B/1D (5-HT1B/1D) receptor agonist and sibutramine inhibits reuptake of norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine.
Concomitant use of agents with serotonergic activity such as serotonin reuptake inhibitors, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, 5-HT1 receptor agonists, ergot alkaloids, lithium, St. John’s wort, phenylpiperidine opioids, dextromethorphan, and 5-hydroxytryptophan may potentiate the risk of serotonin syndrome, which is a rare but serious and potentially fatal condition thought to result from hyperstimulation of brainstem 5-HT1A receptors.
In general, concomitant use of multiple serotonergic agents should be avoided if possible, or otherwise approached with caution if potential benefit is deemed to outweigh the risk. Close monitoring is recommended for signs and symptoms of excessive serotonergic activity such as CNS irritability, altered consciousness, confusion, myoclonus, ataxia, abdominal cramping, hyperpyrexia, shivering, pupillary dilation, diaphoresis, hypertension, and tachycardia. Particular caution is advised when increasing the dosages of these agents. The potential risk of serotonin syndrome should be considered even when administering one serotonergic agent following discontinuation of another, as some agents may demonstrate a prolonged elimination half-life. For example, a 5-week washout period is recommended following use of fluoxetine before administering another serotonergic agent.
Q: Im 30 wks preg and i take Zomig 2.5 mg for migraines.Has anyone heard of any side effects to the baby? thanks?
i know the drug is a class c. my one doc said its ok to take my other doc said its not? im confused here.
A: It’s great that you asked this question. Zomig has not been thoroughly tested with preg women, but the general consensus is that the chances of affecting your baby are slim. Before you start breast feeding, please confer with your Dr. about this. Zomig ( zolmitriptan) does, however, have some drug interactions that should be considered as well. Check out the website I’ve included for more info on this med. You’re going to make a great Mom!
Q: How do I get rid of my Zomig neck pain?
I’m caught in a viscious circle. I take a lot of Zomig (10mg/day everyday). It used to be for migraines, but now I take it to get rid of the severe neck pain — which I got from taking too much Zomig. I can’t just stop taking the Zomig because the neck pain is horrible (worse than a migraine) and it makes me suicidal. I also take Tramacet but it only takes the edge off. Tramacet and Zomig together work great, but 12 hours later I have to take another dose of both again. What can I do?
A: go see a doctor he will recomend you with tablets which are best for you
Q: MIGRAINES: I taken Zomig 5mg. and it works. Is there anything naturally that will work?
Zomig 5mg takes about 1hr to work. Tried Frova too, took alot longer. Doctor doesnot give too many on rx, so I have to really be in alot of pain to take what he gives me. I have asked him to give me more so I won’t suffer as long, but still he write it for 12 pills. I get about 2 headaches a month. Dr says it is hormonal. I would like to try the natural approach and see if I can either reduce or prevent these headaches. Has anyone tried something that really does work?
Motrin and OTC does not work at all. Rx works but as I said, Dr is not willing to write for more. Probably should just go to another Dr.
A: I’ve heard that CAL AMO by the STANDARD PROCESS company can do wonders with migraines. The local naturopathid doctor suggests people take 1 as soon as the migraine starts and another every hour if it doesn’t go away immediately.

Q: Is the drug zomig abused?
Do teens/adults use it to get a “high”? My son is now on it and he has had past experiences with a drug problem.
A: I haven’t even heard of it.. but depending on what it’s used for yeah. If there’s narcotic value then there’s a chance you can abuse it and get high.
Q: Does Zomig contain any Ibuprofen?
I am very allergic to Ibuprofen.
A: Call a pharmacist.
