Q: if you mix relpax migraine medicine with marijuana what is the outcome????
A: Man I wouldn’t MIx many chemicals with bud….What if it’s flamable and when you spark it the bowl torches and burns off your eye brows…. Bud doesn’t really change the effects in a negative way, and if it give you a bit of confidence I would try it.
Q: Relpax and migraines? ?
My fiance has several different types of migraines. He is in preventative medicine and is also prescribed Relpax to treat when he actually gets a migraine…But he takes the Relpax quite frequently, sometimes several times a week. How frequent is too frequent, and could he damage his liver or other organs by taking so much of this drug?
knowledgeable answers pls…no links unless they address this specific issue
A: If after the initial dose, headache improves but then returns, a repeat dose may be beneficial. If a second dose is required, it should be taken at least 2 hours after the initial dose. If the initial dose is ineffective, controlled clinical trials have not shown a benefit of a second dose to treat the same attack. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 80 mg.
The safety of treating an average of more than 3 headaches in a 30-day period has not been established.
Q: Medicine advertisement propaganda?
You know how medicine advertisements have those huge lists of precautions you should take? Well, what kind of propaganda is that? An example is this ad that I’m looking at right now:
“If you have certain types of heart disease, a history of stroke, TIA, or uncontrolled blood pressure, you should not take Relpax. Very rarely, certain people, even some without heart disease, have had serious heart-related problems. Talk to your doctor if you have risk factors for heart disease such as smoking, high blood pressure or cholesterol, or if you’re pregnant or nursing.”
Oh yeah, the precautions are probably not propaganda themselves, but on an advertisement, they probably are, since the companies try to hide them the best they can.
Hank, I’m pretty sure this can be some type of propaganda, but relating to the whole advertisement. The ad talks about all these nice things about the product, but they fail to mention the side effects and precautions and such in the ad; they don’t really want you to consider the precautions as part of the advertisement. I just don’t know what to call this. It may be card stacking.. or faulty logic… or something else.
A: Well, I don’t really see this as propaganda, such as promoting some type of hidden agenda, b/c these are meant to be warnings in that these things have occured in some ppl and eventhough small sometimes <1%, it still has to be reported to minimize any potential litagation. That's my take on it.....have a nice day, darling.
Q: friend?? stealing my medicine?
ok my friend knows im on pills for adhd, also he knows we don’t lock the sliding glass door at night.
This friend I know likes to steal **** even if its from somebody he knows,
Just this night all my clonidine went missing and about a month ago all my relpax went missing.
I honestly dont know where they went, but I know my friend likes to get high off weed regularly.
so my question is what are the effects of these medicines on someone without adhd or someone that gets migranes?
ok ty for reading have a nice night
A: Clonodine is addictive so he might have withdrawal. A bigger problem is called bradycardia which means his heart will beat VERY slowly. If he takes a bunch of it, his heart could slow down til it just stops.
Relpax main problem is it doesn’t mix well with other drugs including cigarettes and is not used extensively on people under 18 (you don’t say how old your friend is). It’s main problem is it raises your blood pressure.
I’d advise you to either lock your doors at night, but most likely if your friend is stealing your meds, he’s doing it while visiting you. Find another place to keep them.

A: He must have no idea what he is doing. Clonidine is an antihypertensive to lower blood pressure it is commonly given to people with ADHD but in the vast majority of the situations it is not used alone. Normally it is taken with a stimulant like Ritalin, Adderall, Dexedrine, Concerta, and so on. Relpax is a triptan, a class of drugs to treat migraine.
Neither drug is addictive, they do not produce any euphoria, and they are not controlled substances. He is not going to get high off of any of that. If you do take stimulants they are the drugs than can be abused.
Both drugs are dangerous if too much is taken. Clonidine can lower his bp too much and Relpax can have serious cardiovascular and neurological effects.
So lock the door and/or hide the drugs in a small container or keep them by your bed. Just make it so that he can’t access the drugs.
Q: Migraine Medicine doesn’t work?
I was given Relpax by my doc yesterday. I paid $80.00 for 4 pills! I was promised they would at least stop this migraine until I can get to the neurologist next week. I took the one pill and another 2 hours as instructed by my doctor. That was 24 hours ago; no help what-so-ever from the migraine. My doctor told me I couldn’t take the meds everyday; so I dont know what to do?? I called their office, but all they can offer me is more rx meds that I cannot afford. :-/
I do have insurance, just a high-deductible insurance. A surgery I had a few weeks ago was supposed to cover the deductible, but of course the hospital mucked it up. Caffine doesn’t help, Any OTC doesn’t help, Oxycodone doesn’t help (take it for my knee). I am NOT going to my ER, they won’t do anything. My pain doc was the one that gave me the drugs and he doesn’t offer samples for anything. Im at work til 5 so I can’t be somewhere dark or quiet and I have to be infront of a computer…
A: I know how you feel i have bad migraines to it seems like nothing works and only pain medication works for alittle bit but you still get pain. Thats why my doctor is sending me to a neurologist hopefully he can help me out. Ive been on 3 differant migraine medications they don’t work the only thing that does work is pain medication but only for like 6-8 hours if that. I hope you feel better ive been waiting to see my neurologist for 10 days i see him today. I hope the neurologist can help you ask him to give you a EEG test it’s for migraines they can tell where the pain is comming from. I hope you feel better God Bless…
Q: Cymbalta and migraine med?
I have read that you should not take medicine for migraines (such as Relpax) if you are taking Cymbalta. It says there is a a potential for a life threatening condition. But I can’t find anything that says what the condition is or what the chances are of developing it. Does anyone know about this?
A: The warning labels are there for a reason. That is because they, (the company that put the warning there in the first place), has done their research. Take their word for is or you might wake up dead. Don’t be stupid and have a happy and long life.
Q: ATTN Bosses/Supervisors/Managers: need your expertise for a question……?
I’ve been having bad migraines that last 2-3 days, twice a month for the last few months. There is no way to prevent them, you can only treat them after they’ve started. The medicine that I use makes me fall asleep for a good 8 hours.
The problem is, I’ve been taking a lot of sick time from work because of it. There is no way I can work while sleeping or in extreme pain. I feel trapped and am afraid of being fired. I’m so scared! How can I even keep a job when this is happening?
And I’ve already tried Imitrex injections and pills, Relpax, Micquin and several others. This medicine is the only one that gets rid of the migraine.
I work for a small office. It is important that I be at my job at a certain time because nobody else can do it. I like my job a lot. What should I do?
A: Wow, you really have a problem. You did not mention your doctor’s recommendation concerning your migraine. My suggestion is follow his advice. Your health is more important than your work even if it means resigning from the company. There are other options for you like telecommuting or going into business.
Peace and blessings!
Q: i get terrible migraines and have tried many meds. is narcotics the only effective treatment…?
when none of the migraine meds work?? ive tried imitrex, relpax, migranal, and a few others but im still having severe pain… i know narcotics quickly take pain away is that the only effective solution when no migraine medicines work? and what works for everyone??
A: Chiropractors can help in some cases.
Coenzyme Q10 is supposed to help.
Q: AAAHHH!!! I have migraines every two weeks now. It is ruining my life?

A: I don’t mean to be personal or offensive but when is the last time you moved your bowels ?
Do you have regular bowel movements ? How much water are you drinking per day ?
If you eat 2 meals a day, then you should have 2-3 bowel movements per day.
If you eat 3 meals per day, then you should have 3-4 bowel movements per day.
Anything less than this is constipation and will contribute to an increasing toxic load in your bloodstream.
Toxins in the blood circulating throughout the body could cause many disease symptoms including and especially migraine headaches.
A lack of water will also do it. 8 – 10 glasses per day 20 minutes before or 2 hours after eating will help minimize fever and headache symptoms. The body is about 65% -75% water.
Try these simple treatments first and see if you don’t get results.

Q: Side effects of Tremadol /Ultram?
A few months ago I was prescribed Tremadol for migraines. I only take them when needed. I have noticed that I absolutely can not sleep after taking them. About once every 1-2 weeks I am up all night long. While I’m awake i also notice I can’t stop itching. Has anyone else had any of these problems? Is there anything I can do to make these annoying side effects go away?
Also, this is not the only migraine medicine i am on. i take relpax first and if that does not break the migraine i take the tremadol.
Please help me sleep normal again! Thanks so much!
A: Ultram makes me itch also. It doesn’t matter if I take it alone or with other meds. I, too, suffer from migraines. So, I think it’s just a side effect from the Ultram.
As, for sleep, I’m finding that the prescription sleeping pills don’t help that much. What seems to help the best is Melatonin which you can buy at Walmart. Try the 300mcg or 3mg first then you can always try the 5mg. Swanson vitamins online has a dual release melatonin which works well for some people.
Good Luck!
Q: question about migraine medicines during pregnancy?
Has anyone ever used or known anyone who has used migraine medications of the drug class called triptans, like imitrex, maxalt, zomig, or relpax, during pregnancy? I have severe trouble with migraines and have taken maxalt for about the last ten years. I’m now a little over 16 weeks pregnant and my OB has ok’d me to continue using this medicine, as long as I’m careful to take it only when I really need to, which, clearly, I always do and have anyway, but I still have concerns over what potential effect this type of medicine has on an unborn baby, as studies are pretty inconclusive and categorize it as a pregnancy class C medicine. I’ve posted this question in the pregnancy category, but only received one reply, and it wasn’t very informative. Does ANYONE have any firsthand knowledge concerning triptans and pregnancy? I’ve been to the website safefetus.com and read all the literature, but I’m looking for advice from someone who actually has experience with it.
A: When I was pregnant with both of my daughters, now 3 and 4, I knew I would not be able to handle my horrible migraines. Even though my doctor recommended not to take it because the effects had not been studies, I did anyway. I took maybe 10 over the course of my entire pregnancy with each of my girls. Everything turned out fine. My girls are completely normal, they have not had any problems at all. I did have a problem with high blood pressure in my 3rd trimester with each, but my migraines had pretty much subsided by then and I don’t think I took any Imitrex at that time. I don’t really think it was related.
Q: Preventative Migraine Medicide?
Is anybody here on preventative migraine medicine? I’ve been on imitrex and am now using relpax to treat the migraine attack when it happens but these two haven’t really worked out that well for me and I was thinking of maybe switching to a preventative migraine medicine. Any suggestions? Your opinion of these medicines? I got about 4 migraines a month when school was in session and during the break about 2 I think. I think some causes might be changes in my sleep schedule or waking up too fast as well as stress. Exercise seems to worsen the pain once it’s there. Maybe I’m crazy but it seems like drinking wine may help prevent them once in a while.
A: i’ve tried about everything out there, nothing worked for me, but people are having a LOT of success with preventative care using a drug called topamax. you also lose weight with it! in terms of an attack, i’ve found the zomig nasal spray to be much more effective than both imitrex and relpax.
if you have high blood pressure, something like a beta blocker may work for you as a preventative measure as well. make sure you are drinking plenty of water though.
Q: Sick of being sick….?
Ive suffered from horrendous migrianes since i was baby.THey have only gotten more intense, and more frequent as i have gotten older. I have seen a coupld neurologists, ive tried EVERY medicine on the planet for prevention, and none of them work. I have to use relpax, phenergen, and fiorinal 3, yes at the same time, to get them to stop. In addition, my health is failing. Im almost always having a cold, and lower back pain. I know im not a hypocondriac because everytime to go in to the dr, they find something else… WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME? Am i just freaking dying at 23? And im sick of pills!!! I just want to feel happy and healthy again!!! ANyone have ANY suggestions? Alternative medicine? Acupuncture? ANYTHING????
A: You sound like you have Fibromyalgia.Look it up.Good Luck!
Q: Chronic Migraines!!!!?
I’m having a problem with migraines and headaches. I have migraines with aura about 2-3 times a week and headaches the other days and with the migraines, most of the time the pain is concentrated to one side . My doctor has given me zoloft, relpax and nothing is working and I don’t know what is triggering the pains, it’s ruining my life. Are there any suggestions on medicine, treatment, etc?
A: I have had migraines for over 25 years now. I get them up to 5 times a week for 1-5 days at a time. I have tried everything on the market plus some that are not “normal” migraine medicines. I would go to a neurologist and see if they can send you to a headache clinic. I would also start writing down everything that you put into your body, weather, smells etc. This will help you find your “triggers”. Also ask a person close to you to monitor your behavior some times people around you can tell if you are about to have a migraine.
